My name is Malin Tybahl, spelled Tybåhl in Swedish, and I am a native of Sweden. I have taught Swedish as a second language since 2005 and have had the pleasure of teaching at some of the most prominent institutions.
New York University, School of Professional Studies
Columbia University
Suny New Paltz - at the Language Immersion Institute
Linköping University, Sweden - Summer Program
In addition, I have organized and taught private small groups, instructed students at Dwight Highschool in NYC via ABC Languages, facilitated conversation sessions and conducted private tutoring for both adults and children.
My teaching background is actually in drama and theater. I am a theater pedagogue and before I began teaching Swedish language classes, I taught drama and theater to children. I taught in After School programs, evening courses, led a private drama class at Alexander Robertson School in NYC, and oversaw the drama program at the West Side YMCA for several years.
On the side, I proofread operas for the Metropolitan Opera's HD programming and translate August Strindberg plays. My two greatest accomplishments are the first ever translated Mr. Bengt's Wife and the new translation of Playing with Fire, in collaboration with the gifted playwright Lawrence Carr.
